Actor Suriya’s latest pan-India film, Kanguva, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A rating. The makers of the film announced the news on Friday evening, November 8, on the social media platform X. The celebratory post made a creative announcement as the makers wrote, “An ‘U’nparalleled ‘A’dventure awaits us all. Our Magnum Opus #Kanguva is censored UA! Get ready to experience it in 3D (sic).”
Directed by Siva, it is one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year. The film is a fantasy action adventure set in the mediaeval period, and features Suriya as a tribal warrior. The film also marks actor Bobby Deol’s Tamil debut as the main antagonist, while Disha Patani joins the team as the female lead.
Kanguva is believed to be one of the most ambitious projects of Suriya’s career. The popular Tamil star spoke about the film at a promotional event recently, and called it a labour of love. He told the audience that he wanted to be a part of this film because it is something that has never been done before. The actor also credited filmmakers SS Rajamouli and Rishab Shetty for paving the way for such kinds of stories, and establishing that there’s no limit to one’s creativity and hardwork.
Suriya also revealed that they shot Kanguva only in natural light and the cinematographer never used any artificial lighting to enhance the visuals. He also paid tribute to art director Milan and editor Nishad Yusuf, who died during production and post-production.
Kanguva is produced by Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green and UV Creations and is slated to hit the screens on November 14.
